In a highly anticipated matchup at the NBA Summer League, basketball enthusiasts woke up early to witness the first-ever appearance of Filipino cager Kai Sotto. However, their excitement quickly turned into disappointment as Sotto remained benched for the entirety of the game. The outcry from passionate fans was immediate, as they expressed their frustration on the social media accounts of the Orlando Magic.

The debut of the 7-foot-3 center was eagerly awaited by fans , hoping to witness the rising young talent make an impact on the court. But their hopes were dashed when Sotto did not see action against the Detroit Pistons. Prior to the game, Sotto's coach had informed him that he would not be fielded against Detroit. The coach clarified that contracted players and rookies would be given the opportunity to play first.

Despite a valiant effort from the Orlando Magic, they were unable to secure a victory against the Pistons, ultimately losing 89-78. The absence of Sotto on the court left many wondering whether his inclusion could have turned the tide in favor of the Magic.
